Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) has been developed to make evidence-based mental health treatments more accessible. ICBT for BDD, or BDD-NET, has been tested in a Swedish language version.
BDD-NET is 12 weeks long. It is a goal-oriented, skills based approach that focuses on thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the present. It involves identifying unhelpful thoughts and making behavioral changes in order to give you more room to live your life.
Participants are given self-help resources, worksheets, and materials, and are guided by a therapist through a confidential messaging system.
