Who is the treatment suited for?

Please note that the Internet-based treatment described on this website is conducted in Swedish and only available to people registered and living in Sweden.

We accept patients from the whole country (Sweden). The important thing is that the treatment works for you.

In order to take part in the treatment program you need to:

  • be registered and living in Sweden
  • be able to come to Stockholm for an assessment
  • be a suitable participant for the program, including the following:
    • That you have practical conditions to sleep well. For example, if your sleep problems are due to having a baby at home and therefore being awake half the night, you suffer from a condition that causes you to go up several times a night to medicate or working night shift, then you will not be able to get good help from the treatment.
    • Sleep apnea is a very common and serious condition. If you or you suspect that you are suffering from sleep apnea, we recommend an examination of this before a treatment can begin. The same applies if you have a confirmed sleep apnea that is not treated properly. However, if you have an ongoing and working treatment (e.g. CPAP), it is okey to undergo this sleep treatment.
    • Narcolepsy is an obstacle to undergo our sleep treatment safely.
    • Sleep medicine is NOT an obstacle to initiating sleep treatment. If you are using sleep medicine and are interested in decreasing or stop using, we can assist you during the treatment.
  • be at least 16 years of age
  • have an account on 1177 Vårdguidens e-tjänster
  • have daily access to a computer and the Internet
  • have time to work actively with the treatment program over 9 weeks, which means being able to:
    • read 10-20 pages of text per week
    • be prepared to fill out a sleep diary where you register how your nights look
    • be prepared to actively change your sleep habits and try new ways
    • carry out practical exercises in your everyday life, which can take a number of hours to do each week

The Internet-based treatment is not suitable for those:

  • with a high suicide risk
  • with reading and writing difficulties
  • with difficulties understanding the Swedish language
  • who are going to be abroad for more than 2 weeks during the 9 weeks of treatment
  • with a bipolar disorder
